Dubai Police have unveiled a groundbreaking self-driving security patrol vehicle equipped with advanced crime-detecting technology and detachable drones. This innovative patrol vehicle was showcased at GITEX Global 2023, aiming to enhance safety in residential areas.
The eco-friendly, fully electric patrol vehicle boasts a battery life of up to 15 hours and can reach speeds of 7 km/h. Designed specifically for residential zones, its primary objective is to boost security coverage. The vehicle features an advanced camera with 360-degree capture capability, smart technology, and artificial intelligence to detect criminal behavior, recognize faces, and read car license plates.
Lieutenant Rashid bin Haidar from the Police’s General Department of Administrative Affairs introduced the patrol vehicle, highlighting its direct communication technologies that allow real-time liaison with the Command and Control Centre at the Police General Operations Department. The patrol also includes an onboard drone that can access areas the vehicle cannot, maintaining direct wireless communication with the patrol once launched.
