Dubai is rapidly emerging as a global hub for artificial intelligence (AI), driven by ambitious initiatives and significant investments. The city is set to transform its educational landscape and economic future through AI, positioning itself at the forefront of technological innovation.

Training One Million AI Prompters

In a groundbreaking move, Dubai has pledged to train one million people in AI prompting over the next three years. This initiative, overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, is the first of its kind globally. The program aims to develop expertise in AI prompt engineering, a critical skill for maximizing the potential of generative AI. AI prompt engineering involves crafting precise instructions for AI systems to achieve desired outcomes, from generating creative content to solving complex challenges.

Vision for the Future

Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized the importance of preparing for the AI era. “We want to be the most future-ready city and continue to prepare for the AI era by developing expertise and skills that support global technological change and put Dubai at the forefront of innovation,” he said at the launch of the ‘One Million AI Prompters’ initiative.

Economic Transformation

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Dubai as a key emirate, is preparing for the post-oil era by transforming into an AI powerhouse. By 2031, the UAE aims to generate 40% of its gross domestic product (GDP) through AI. This ambitious goal is supported by substantial investments, the appointment of the world’s first Minister of State for AI, and strong backing for start-ups and scientific research.

Global Collaboration

Dubai’s AI strategy has attracted global giants such as Microsoft, Google, and IBM, who are actively participating in the city’s AI initiatives. The collaboration with these leading technology companies underscores Dubai’s commitment to becoming a global center for AI innovation.

Recognizing Innovation

To encourage innovative approaches in AI, the top ten teachers who showcase the most effective integration of AI into their teaching practices will be recognized with awards totaling Dh1 million during the next edition of the AI Retreat on April 29, 2025.

Preparing for a Technological Era

Omar Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the importance of practical AI skills. “We want to show people that there is a full spectrum of use cases. Whether you are technical or non-technical, you can utilize these tools,” he said. Al Olama, appointed as the world’s first AI Minister of State in 2017, continues to drive the UAE’s AI initiatives forward.

Dubai’s commitment to AI is reshaping its educational and economic landscape, ensuring that both teachers and students are well-prepared for the technological advancements that lie ahead. This initiative marks a significant step towards making Dubai the most future-ready city in the world.
