Quick Overview
Development of a centralized web-based system to manage project-related information and improve collaboration for project managers and engineers.
The Problem
Disparate storage of critical project information across various platforms (emails, shared drives, local computers) leading to difficulties in accessing up-to-date data, version control issues, communication breakdowns, and inefficient decision-making within project teams.
The Solution
- Designed and developed a centralized, web-based Project Information Management System primarily for project managers and engineers.
- Implemented secure storage and organization of all project documents, communications (including order details with suppliers, minutes of meetings with project stakeholders, and records of project variations), and progress updates.
- Enabled version control for documents to ensure access to the latest information.
- Facilitated team communication through integrated discussion forums or notification systems.
- Provided a centralized calendar and task management features for better coordination.
- Implemented robust role-based access control, limiting access to sensitive information such as financial data (accounts, payments received, remaining amount due) based on the user’s role within the project.
- Included search and filtering capabilities for easy retrieval of project information.
- Integrated with the existing HR system for efficient labor management and tracking of project team assignments (quantity and specialization).
- Integrated with the inventory management system to streamline the management of project-related orders received, installations, and pending orders.
- Included key project data points such as project start date, end date, overall progress tracking, payments received, and the remaining amount due, with access controlled by user roles.
